2010 / 2011 EVENTS
Former local Wyong lad Joshua Horner
gave an inspirational and motivational talk to students of XtrAct Drama Academy. Starting with ballet to overcome asthma,
Joshua has gone on to be a lead performer with the Australian Ballet, as well as in stage musicals including Billy Elliot
in Sydney and New York. Joshua now has reached the heights of working with Disney in Los Angeles. Students were at Wyong
Memorial Hall for a free holiday drama workshop when visited by Joshua, who is the ambassador for the new Performing Arts
Centre to be built on the existing site, under the name of “The Arthouse”. He stressed the importance of
the combination of believing in yourself, learning as much as possible along the way from experts in the field, and determination
to fulfil your dreams through hard work and developing skills.

XtrAct students enjoy regular weekly classes to learn skills which develop creativity and confidence for life. In addition,
students perform on the big stage twice a year. Each class puts on a play at the Central Coast
Theatre Festival in June, where a professional adjudicator provides valuable feedback and encouragement. At
the end of the year, each class performs a Pantomime or Christmas show.
Term fees are both reasonable and affordable. XtrAct students pay no additional
fees to participate in shows or festivals.
It is rewarding for teachers to see the progress
made by the students, and parents are delighted by the associated benefits in social skills, confidence and academic achievements.
It is also testament to XtrAct students' achievements in the number of students who apply and gain entry to the Hunter
School of Performing Arts. Some have also gone on to do courses at NIDA.
All XtrAct tutors are university graduates with extensive experience
in teaching and community theatre
It
is now well-documented by educational experts that participation in the arts is a key factor in producing happy, well-adjusted
and successful students.
Drama is the ultimate team sport - come and join the ultimate team!
